So Comfy

Well, it has finally started to cool down - I am so excited that I choose to wear my Print Tee (I went with red) and Long Sleeve White Shirt today - comfy - what else can I say. The long sleeve is just the right thickness, warms you up a little, yet you don't feel like you are doing to die of heat. Great combo.

Maternity Week

This week we are joining with www.aordinarylife.com for Maternity Week. Everyday we will be showing how you can supplement your exising wardrobe with Modbe to use items that you already have or add a few key pieces for Comfort and Fashion. When selecting clothing for maternity it is essential to focus on comfort and the types of fabric. You want clothing that will breath. At Modbe all of our clothing items are designed for everyday wear - but after having so many customers use the items during maternity - we found that we don't need to create a seperate maternity line. The comfort and design of our items are great to supplement or become your maternity clothes. Make sure to visit www.aordinarylife.com and enter the great giveaways going on this week!

Maternity Week Tanks

Tired of too many layers and wanting to cut down on the extra heat? Look into a tank with a built in bra. Our balanced tank provides the support that you need. It comes up high enough in front to give the coverage that you want - and is long enough that you can lift your arms over your head.
Have you noticed how many items in traditional maternity stores are not designed to be worn on their own - many need a tank underneath. Tanks allow you to continue wearing your regular clothes. One of my favorite looks for maternity is taking a shirt or hoodie (button or double zipper) and undoing the item of clothing from your rib cage down - with a tank underneath, you get that extra splash of color. Why hide - show off what your carrying! Looking for more color - check out our caps and cami's.

Maternity Week - Exercise Pants

Although they may be Exercise Pants - right now you might just be after comfort - these Pants and Capri's deliver. Double banded waist to slim your middle and flatter your derriere. Sits higher on the hip for coverage. These pants provide ultra comfort. Pants have flat seams - no reason to annoy when those legs start to itch.
Better yet - both styles come with a tearaway tag so you can reverse. Go with a band of color or solid. These casual - yet dressy pant will become a favorite and encourage comfort.

Maternity Week

Why not talk about swim. Just because your expecting doesn't mean you won't look great in a suit. Modbe Swim works great for regular wear and Maternity double the use. The spandex is great quality - it will stretch and then you can wear it again afterwords- don't worry that it will be destroyed during the uses. Most important: Modbe tops are LONG. They will continue to give you coverage over your belly during those late months. You don't have to worry about showing more than you want. Most important - you won't have to sacrifice fashion while wearing swim for two.

My top picks for maternity - the halter, bandeau (extra coverage through the chest) and lace up tops. All three give ample support.

As far as swim bottoms are concerned - if you gain most of your baby weight out front - stick with the same size bottoms. If you gain most of your baby weight in your hips, bum and thighs - go up one size. All our swim bottoms have a band that can be folded over - or worn up - this gives you that extra support you need, or fold down to eliminate cutting into your stomach. Great for after baby also to keep that little extra stomach hidden.

Skirts - wonderful to hide the stretch marks.

Don't shy away from swimming during these months - its a great way to cool down or take the added stress off your joints.

Lace Up Swim Top

The Lace Up Top comes in two great patterns.
This style supports well and is wonderful for those who are a little bustier. If your shoulders are a little on the broad side, this is the perfect suit for you (if you are not busty, but have broad shoulders I would seriously consider this suit). The v-neck shape is perfect for bringing your shoulders in. Like both tops? Consider putting them both with black bottoms. For a bold look match the Zebra top with Burgundy bottoms or skirt.

Denim Cut Off's

Yesterday I received my sample of Juliette Denim Cut Off's and quickly put them on. The Cut Off's are the same fit as Modbe True Rise Denim. What makes our Denim unique? The fit. Designed to fit real bodies. When doing boutiques I have had many clients comment that the jeans are similar to the "Traveling Pants". No matter what body shape or size you put them on they look great. There is an extra in the design that you won't find with other jeans - although the pockets have low rise placement -the back waist band comes up a few inches higher to avoid any issues. From looking at the back you would never know - until one bends over - at this point you are fortunate enough to not see what they are wearing under their denim. How many times do we pull on the back of a shirt to cover those 2 inches? Traditionally jeans that are higher in the back are frumpy. Don't worry about the front. The waistband scoops down to allow for a low rise placement in the front of the jean. High in the back and sides for coverage - low in the front for comfort. You can't go wrong. The Naomi is the same cut - just distressed.

Retro Swim Top

The Retro Swim Top is a new style to our swim line this year. Straps over the shoulder is a favorite feature. No tying; the straps adjust just like a bra. When my oldest daughter is gone, I choose this suit over my others, to elimiate any tying (I prefer a crisscross - not traditional -tie with all of our halter tops for maximum support that I cannot pull off without an extra set of hands.) This top in "Retro Stripe" is great at creating a longer / leaner look. The stripes actually alternate between offwhite and a light green - producing more of a vertical illusion than just white stripes would. You will only notice the green if you are within 1 to 2 inches. This top is also available in a Blue Floral (the one I acutally have). Sizing Tip - if you are a cup size C or larger I would order according to the sizing chart. If you are smaller than a size C cup I would order down one size in this top only. There is plenty of fabric to create great coverage and this suit gives wonderful support. All of our suits have a complete built in bra, fully lined, with double lining in the chest. If desired there is a pad that can be removed or you can add more padding. Consider finding two tops to match one bottom - right now with swim on sale you can pick up 3 pieces for the original price of 2.

Re-Zip Hoodie

Hoodies – a necessity no matter the time of year. Whether you’re needing something for the air conditioned movie theater in the summer – or those crisp fall days. This Hoodie covers it all. The first feature that most people notice is the double zipper: leave un-zipped, zip all or half way up, or zip 3/4 of the way up and then unzip ¼ from the bottom - Quick STYLING TIP –1) this last way of zipping the hoodie is great for those with a “boy / long and lean” shape – it draws the eye in around your waist making you appear to have more curves. 2) The ability to zip up from the bottom is great for maternity – you can still keep the top zipped for warmth, but don’t have the constriction of fabric being tight around your belly.
Second feature– the Hoodie has reinforced thumb holes – a clever addition for Hoodie fans everywhere. Two years ago when this Hoodie was introduced I had customers asking about the “defect” where the fabric was torn – it is not a tear – but something you will quickly get use to and enjoy – especially on those cool days when it’s not cold enough for gloves, but you need just a little something on your hands.
95% cotton, 5% spandex – currently in Starry Night and Pearl. My personal favorite is the Pearl with a dark cami underneath (yes – as a mother of 3 kids I was worried about the light color when it was introduced and avoided it for a month, but after wearing it I fell in love with the color and found out that cherry sauce easily comes out.)
Enjoy!

CapSleeve Shirt

The most difficult part about starting this blog was deciding which item of clothing to write about first. I wear Modbe on a daily basis – it is hard to decide on a favorite. Instead of choosing a favorite I will start with a classic - one of the original 2 items that started the company –

the Capsleeve Shirt Why is it so great – it can be worn on its own, or layered. Checking in my closet I have over 20 different Capsleeve shirts in a variety of colors. Second Skin is often a term used to describe this shirt. I order my shirts in 2 sizes – one tight to help hold in all those imperfections and the other loose enough to be worn on its own. As a general rule – my white and black Capsleeve’s are the ones ordered one size smaller – these I use strictly for layering. How often do we find a shirt somewhere – that we love – that is just a little too sheer for our liking, or the neck line is a little too low? Most of the time we can place black, brown or white under these items and solve any dilemmas.
Colors - I order in a size that I feel comfortable wearing on their own (follow the sizing chart on the web). This way I can still use the shirt as a layering piece when needed, but feel comfortable wearing it to drop the kids off at school or running errands. I wear color Capsleeve’s around the house nonstop. They are a great shirt to help you feel more feminine than the standard t-shirt. Sometimes when spending the day being mom we do need something to help as feel a little bit better – even if it is just the style of the shirt we are wearing around the house.
All Capsleeve’s are 95% cotton 5% spandex – they wear great and doesn’t ball when layering – just make sure that you wash and then air dry – you don’t want your shirt to shrink in length. Spilled something on your Capsleeve – a little tip for cleaning – put liquid tide (or your preference of laundry detergent – without bleach) directly on the spot. Let sit for 5 – 20 minutes. Then wash. The only stain I have not been able to remove this way is Kraft Mac-n-Cheese. Everything else – including crayon has come out. Our little girl’s shirt is made of the same fabric.
Styling tip – when wearing the shirt by itself – bunch a little through the stomach and hips. This will give a more flattering look. Sometimes we have a tendency to pull our shirts down – this shows everything –bunched looks better.
Check out the 2 new colors for back to school Heather Grey and Raspberry – both perfect compliments with denim.

Enjoy!
